According to the geomorphological division the site belongs to the territory of the Slovenské rudohorie, Stolické vrchy, Tŕstie. These are erosion-denudation, fluvialy cut relief on the crystal structure. Site consist especialy of migmatites and paragneisses of kráľovohoľský complex of Vepor. The whole site is part of the forest land. This is one of the last surviving fragments of an old beech forest in the area, which have perspective to preserve in the complex of economic use of forests. Forests are characterized by a high degree of preservation, authenticity and varied tree species composition. Represented habitats of European importance: Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests (9130) and Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines (9180)

The site overlaps with the Nature Reserve Hodošov les, which was established by generally binding ordinance of the Regional Office in Banska Bystrica no. 1 / 1998 of 23 January 1998. The main subject of the protection is fragment of the original beech and rich natural tree species composition, as well as specific species of fauna and flora. On the territory of Nature Reserve are present two types of forest habitats Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests (9130) and Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines (9180). Particularly interesting is forest vegetation composition of one forest segment, where the forest due to steep topography keeps the original tree representation. The site fulfills due to the significant natural values conditions for scientific research and educational function.

Through the site there is the road and small paths, which is little used (in connection with management of adjacent forests) and does not affect the site significantly. The traffic of vehicles is in very low level. The area is surrounded by economically used forests, logging on the border area could prove a temporary reduction in static stability of forests in the site.
