Pulsatilla patens

The area is situated in the Spišská Basin, within the cadastre of the Hôrka Village. Massive melaphyre rocks create the core of the area and extend above the Hôrka Village, part Prímovce 550-635 m above the sea level. Due to specific character of the substrate (Caloric value, ddryness, higher content of calcium) and by influence of the microclimate conditions there were created interesting plant communities of the relict character with components of various origin. Thermophilic components are predominant. It is very interesting because of closeness of the Tatra Mts., but there are also mountainous and alpine species. From the most interesting it is needed to state xerptherm Pulsatila patens, very rare preglacial relict Allium strictum, popntic-oriental component Spirea media, alpine carpathian-pontic component Helictotrichon planiculme, Arenaria graminifolia component of subarctic steppe, that has the northest locality of occurence within the Carpathians in this area. Notable is occurence of the alpine lichens Cetraria cuculata and Cladonia amaurocraea and alpine moss Griummia funalis (arctic-alpine compoment). On the other hand some thermophylic mosses get here their northern border of their distibution: Heppia queppinii, Lecanora demissa a Grimaldia fragrans. Within the area there are xerotherm communities - Festucetum pseudodalmaticae and Caricetum humulis.

The aim of protection is to maintain subxerotherm plant communities on the malaphyre subbasement with regard to Pulsatilla patens and Allium strictum, that have the only one known locality in Slovakia here and at the same time the only one locality in the Carpathians.

Nonforest xerotherm communities are endangered by overgrowing by wood species and bushes and communal and building waste (locality is situated nearby the urban area)
