The site belongs to Turzovská vrchovina highlands, subunit Zadné vrchy and Kornická brázda. Geology: The site is made up of the Magura Nappe of Flysch belt, mainly of partial Rača Nappe. The site is represented by paleogene rocks,shales, sandstones and conglomerates. In the paleogene rocks overlaying there are holocene fluvial sediments, which are represented by clay and gravel clay occuring in floodplain of Predmieranka. The site Predmieranka is represented by natural river and its mixed ash-alder alluvial forest with dominance of Alnus incana. This habitat is complemented by acidpohilous spruce forests (Fageto-Abietum), by hygrophilous tall herb fringe communities of plains and of the montane belts and by national habitats: eutrophic humid grasslands, large Carex beds. The site includes habitats of Lutra lutra, refuges of Ciconia nigra, of Alcedo atthis and next bird species. The aquatic habitat was not specially studied, it is represented by Cottus gobio, a fish species of Annex II of Habitat Directive. Note: The part of the stream was negatively influenced by floods 8 years ago. Suitable subsequent regulation has enabled nature regeneration of the stream habitats.

Conservation of well-preserved part of montane stream with mixed ash-alder alluvial forests and regionally rare acidpohilous spruce forests. It is a model area of successful restoration.

Logging in alluvial coastal habitas (especially clear cuts), skidding and processing calamity in the surrounding forests. Illegal waste deposits. Planned water reservoar flood-control, water pollution from urban areas, cultivation of allochtonous shrubs along the road, spreading of invasive plants from urban areas
